thinking about gettgin a 204 or a 221 fireball....I am really getting into ground squirrel hunting and as some have you heard of my expolits I really want a 33 yd GS gun.I am going to sell off my 22k hornet and either buy a 221 fireball or 204..leaning more towards a 221 mainly because of high volume shooting..My 223 can almost duplicate 204 ballistics..if I drop to a 30 gr Berger in a .224 bullet My 223 will shoot it at 4000 fps giving me realy no reason to get a 204.. so I guess does anybody have any experience on the 221 fireball or even maybe a 17 fireball

The 204 ruger is quite impressive...My wife shoots one. But its not really good for the budget if its high volume. The 221 fireball is a pretty cool cartridge. I never considered it until latley when I was at the local gunshop talking to the guys behind the counter and they said they have made hits out to 400 yds with one using 50 gr Hornady v-max's. Not bad , not the norm , but still having that capability in a cartridge that only digests 16 gr of powder is quite refresshing. To bad savage doesnt make one. I just might be tempted!!! But I will stick to my trusty 220 Swift.
